European Medicines Agency (EMA) has recognized the mastic of Chios as a natural medicine

At a meeting of the Committee on herbal medicinal products (HMPC) to the European Medicines Agency (EMA), which took place in London on 7th of July 2015, was taken the decision to classify mastic of Chios to the category of traditional herbal medicines in two therapeutic indications:
a.Traditional herbal medicinal product used in mild dyspeptic disorders
b. Traditional herbal medicinal product used for the symptomatic treatment of minor inflammations of the skin and as an aid in healing of minor wounds. The product is a traditional herbal medicinal product for use in the specified indications exclusively based upon long-standing use.
After developing and approving the relevant documentation Chios mastiha is recognized as a medicinal product within the EU and EEA countries
